As the BJP edges closer to forming a government in Delhi after 26 years, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has acknowledged that voters sought a change in leadership.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Priyanka, who also represents Wayanad in Parliament, said that during pre-election meetings, it was evident that Delhi residents were dissatisfied with the existing governance and wanted something different.
"They were fed up with the way things were and wanted change. I suppose they voted for it. My congratulations to all those who have won," she stated.
She also emphasised the need for political parties to work harder, stay connected with people, and address public concerns more effectively.
According to the latest Election Commission of India (ECI) trends, the BJP was leading in 45 out of 70 assembly seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was ahead in 21 constituencies. The two parties had also secured two seats each.
Meanwhile, the Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 consecutive years until 2013, is on track to win no seats for the third consecutive assembly election.
Priyanka Gandhi is currently on a three-day visit to Kerala.
