New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Tuesday filed a case against Chief Minister Atishi for allegedly violating prohibitory orders.

The case comes a day before assembly polls in the national capital, according to The Indian Express.

It is reported that another case is filed against two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers for allegedly assaulting a police official.

It is reported citing police that Atishi, who is the AAP candidate for Kalkaji, was in Govindpuri area on Monday night.

The party workers at the spot allegedly stopped cars and refused to leave the place despite police asked them, citing the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in place.

‘On 4/2/25 at 12:30 am, AAP candidate from Kalkaji (AC-51) with 50-70 people & 10 vehicles was found at Fateh Singh Marg. Police instructed them to vacate due to MCC.On complaint by FST, a case u/s 223 BNS & 126 RP Act is regtd at PS Govindpuri,’ the official X account of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South East Delhi, reportedly said in the post.

Denying the charges, Atishi called out the police for taking action against two AAP workers.

The chief minister questioned the Election Commission for not taking action against the family members of Ramesh Bidhuri, the BJP candidate for Kalkaji.

‘The Election Commission is also amazing! Ramesh Bidhuri ji’s family members are openly violating the code of conduct. No action is being taken against them. I filed a complaint and called the police and @ECISVEEP , and they filed a case against me! Rajiv Kumar ji: How much will you ruin the electoral process,’ Atishi said in post on X.

Meanwhile the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday said: ‘The 3-member Commission collectively noted repeated deliberate pressure tactics to malign ECI in Delhi Elections, as if it is a single member body & decided to have constitutional restraint, absorbing such outbursts with sagacity, stoically & not to be swayed by such insinuations.’

Ravi Kumar Singh, DCP, South-East Delhi confirmed that a gathering was reported at Baba Fateh Singh Marg in Govindpuri, adding that AAP members Ashmit and Sagar Mehta ‘obstructed & assaulted’ Head Constable (HC) Kaushal Pal who was filming the crowd.

‘A case was registered under sections of BNS and for causing obstruction in discharge of public duty and assault while on duty. Further investigation is in progress,’ Ravi Kumar Singh said.
