New Delhi: Twenty-four hours after an acid attack story shocked the national capital, it is now revealed that the victim fabricated it, NDTV reported.
A 20-year-old woman claimed yesterday that a man, who had been stalking her for days, attacked her with acid inflicting burn injuries.
The man and his two accomplices allegedly targeted her as she was on her way to attend an extra class in the national capital.
The story has now taken a 180-degree turn after her father, identified as Aqeel Khan who was arrested in a rape case on Monday, confessed that it was fabricated to frame the main accused, Jitender.
The woman, a Delhi University student, reportedly said that she lied at the instance of her father to fabricate Jitender whose wife accused Aqeel Khan of coercing her to have sex with him and of sharing her obscene photos with her husband.
Jitender’s wife filed a rape complaint, leading to the registration of an FIR.
It is reported citing the police that the story was fabricated by Aqeel Khan and his daughter to dodge the case by implicating jitender and his friends.
The burn injuries on her hand, Khan revealed, came from the toilet cleaner she was carrying which she got poured on her hands.
The Delhi Police is set to charge the woman and her father under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for plotting the fake story.
The woman, a second-year BCom student enrolled in Delhi University's Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board, claimed yesterday that Jitendra - an acquaintance of hers – and two of his friends identified as Ishan and Arman attacked her with acid on Sunday morning near near Laxmi Bai College.
She narrated that Jitendra was driving a motorcycle when pillion riding Ishaan passed a bottle to Armaan who flung the liquid at her.
She said got burns on her both hands as she tried to shield her face from the attack, adding that Jitendra had been stalking her for some time.
However, the probe in the case revealed several discrepancies in her claim after it was found that Jitendra was away in Karol Bagh at the time of the incident.
The bike she mentioned was found parked in Karol Bagh, alongside police could not find traces of acid at the crime spot.
