Dalit man abducted, beaten, forced to drink urine in MP; 2 arrested

Madhya Pradesh: In a shocking incident, a Dalit youth was abducted, beaten, and forced to drink urine by a group of individuals in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district, police confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the victim, three persons abducted him and took him from Bhind to Gwalior, where he was subjected to humiliation. Upon reaching Gwalior, the accused allegedly forced him to consume alcohol and then made him drink their urine.

The terrified victim managed to contact his family, who rushed to his aid and ensured he was admitted to a government hospital. The local police were subsequently informed of the horrifying ordeal.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanjeev Pathak and District Collector Karorilal Meena visited the victim at the hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

ASP Pathak stated that a case has been registered against the accused under sections of assault, illegal confinement, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Two of the three accused, identified as Sonu and Alok, both residents of Bhind, have been arrested, while the search for the third individual is ongoing.

Regarding allegations of forcing the victim to drink urine, Pathak said, “The matter is being investigated and further action will be taken as per the medical report.”

District Collector Meena added that he has spoken to the victim’s family and assured them that the accused would face strict legal action. He also said that the district hospital has been directed to submit the medical report promptly.

This incident comes just a week after a similar case in Katni district, where a Dalit man was allegedly beaten. In that case, three persons were arrested for committing atrocities against members of marginalised communities.
