CPI (M) to continue alliance with TRS for 2023 Assembly polls in Telangana

Hyderabad: The 2023 state Assembly elections in Telangana will see the Communist Party of India (Marxist) extending its support to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), as the Left party has reportedly drawn an alliance deal with the TRS.

Tammineni Veerabhadram, the CPI (M) secretary, made this announcement and hoped that the Left parties- CPI (M) and CPI- could win all the seats in Khammam and Nalgonda district constituencies which will help the party to bring back its lost glory in the state.

The alliance with the Left parties helped the TRS to win the recent byelection in Munugode, the constituency the Left parties has left behind without fielding candidates for some time now, even in the 2018 Assembly election. The CPI won the Munugode seat five times in the past, the last time in 2004.

Meanwhile, the CPI said that no talks in regard to the continuing alliance with the TRS were not held. Telangana deputy secretary of CPI Palla Venkat Reddy is reported to have said that the party will maintain its anti-Modi agenda and will continue its alliance with the TRS if the party seeks the CPI's support to keep the BJP at bay.

According to the CPI and CPI (M), the parties have a combined vote bank of 20,000 votes and they could bring in 10,000 votes into TRS's kitty, ensuring a crucial victory for the TRS in Munugode.
