Cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi loses Rs 30,000 in elaborate marriage fraud

Faridabad: Notorious cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi, an accused in the 2023 Nuh violence, fell victim to a marriage scam, losing Rs 30,000 after scammers vanished with his money in Aligarh, police said Friday.

According to Bajrangi's complaint, neighbor's relative Bunty promised a suitable bride after Bajrangi expressed interest in remarrying. Bunty, aided by accomplice Rani, first took him to Aligarh thrice to meet prospects he rejected. They then showed a photo of a young woman he liked, visiting his home on September 5, 2025, with her family to fix the wedding for February 7.

Trusting the setup, Bajrangi transferred Rs 30,000 on February 6 for the bride's clothes, part of a Rs 1.20 lakh deal for full arrangements. But when his wedding baraat (procession) arrived in Aligarh, Bunty, Rani, and the bride were gone—phones switched off. The supposed bride denied any wedding knowledge, leaving him humiliated and empty-handed, his complaint stated.

Neighbors noted festive preparations at his house had built high hopes, only for it all to crumble. Saran police station registered an FIR against Bunty, Rani, and associates under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections; investigation underway.
