Kerala has decided to strengthen Covid protocols in the state with immediate effect, following the rising number of Covid positive cases, at a high-level meeting on Wednesday. Currently, the state's covid positivity rate is at 5 per cent after 3,502 people tested positive on Wednesday out of a total of 60,554 samples.
After the assembly polls wrapped up yesterday, over a lakh people, including polling agents, have been instructed to take the test in the coming days.
As the elections and campaign pulled huge crowds, the authorities are expecting a surge in numbers. The police have been instructed to ensure the new strengthened protocol is strictly adhered to. Additionally, the meeting also decided to set up more vaccination camps to ensure that all above 45 are vaccinated in the next 45 days. Furthermore, the state has decided to reinforce the routine quarantine that had slackened during the elections for those arriving from outside the state.
