Rahul Gandhi said the Congress will easily cross the majority threshold in Goa and unlike last time, it will "act immediately" to form a government there.
He also said that the party would look to revitalize the state's tourism industry and restart the mining industry as soon as possible at a press conference here.
The Congress party will get a solid majority this time and we will act immediately to form a government in Goa. We won't fall short. I think we will easily surpass the majority mark," Gandhi said.
The state legislature consists of 40 members and 21 is the magic number.
Despite being the single-largest party after the 2017 assembly election, the Congress took longer than expected to assemble the required numbers, causing the BJP to form an interim government in the coastal state.
In addition to this, he stated that the Congress would focus on making Goa an IT hub to address unemployment issues in the state.
"I would like to dig deeper into the central issue of Goa, which is unemployment, and why the people of Goa believe that the Congress is best suited to tackle this problem. In order to make Goa a known knowledge and IT hub we propose to put our money and energy into making Goa a place where many young Indians can find work in the IT industry and connect with the world," he said.
