Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge slammed for Louis Vuitton scarf in Parliament

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s Louis Vuitton scarf which he wore on Wednesday has been a topic of social media debate for the past few days.

When Kharge blamed Prime Minister Modi for the Adani crisis and demanded a JPC probe into the scam, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal mentioned Kharge’s Louis Vuitton scarf worth ₹56, 332 in the Rajya Sabha.

Other BJP leaders also slammed the Congress chief for blaming PM Modi.

Now BJP’S national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has criticized Kharge for wearing a Louis Vuitton scarf in Parliament.

Poonawalla shared a picture detailing the price of the scarf on Twitter. "There is no problem if they wear a Louis Vuitton scar or a Burberry t-shirt and speak about poverty. It is their mentality," Poonawalla added.

He also compared Kharge's "expensive" fashion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "sustainable fashion". Recently, Modi wore a jacket made from recycled PET bottles presented to him by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) at the India Energy Week in Bengaluru.

This isn't the first time that the BJP has attacked Congress leaders over their clothes.

In September last year, the BJP had pointed out Rahul Gandhi’s Burberry t-shirt which reportedly cost over Rs 41,000 and in return, the Congress hit back that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s suit costs Rs 10 lakh.”

Mahua Moitra's Louis Vuitton bag was in the eye of a storm in Parliament last year.
