Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) chief spokesperson Saurav Das has approached the Delhi Police seeking registration of an FIR, alleging that several YouTubers, media personnel and other unidentified individuals trespassed into his residence, recorded videos of its interiors without consent, publicised his residential address online and subjected him to a coordinated campaign of intimidation, defamation and invasion of privacy.
In a complaint submitted on August 5, Das alleged that the incidents attracted cognisable offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including house-trespass, criminal intimidation, defamation, criminal conspiracy and other relevant provisions, The News Minute reported.
According to the complaint, around 15 to 20 people gathered outside his residence on the morning of August 5, while some had reportedly remained outside since the previous night. Das described the incident as a serious breach of privacy and a significant security threat to him and his family. He stated that he was in Maharashtra at the time to attend a two-day meeting of Citizens for Justice and Peace.
Das further alleged that, over the past several days, individuals identifying themselves as YouTubers, journalists, content creators and media personnel repeatedly assembled outside and entered his residence without authorisation or consent. He claimed they recorded videos and photographs of the house, including its interiors, entrance and surrounding areas, allegedly with the intention of publishing the material on social media to generate sensational content.
The complaint also alleged that the individuals questioned the caretaker, security personnel, neighbours and passers-by about Das's personal life, residence, finances and other private matters, which he described as an unauthorised intrusion into the private affairs of his family.
Calling a person's home the most sacrosanct private space, Das argued in the complaint that the alleged entry into and filming of the residence amounted to a serious violation of privacy, dignity and security and constituted the offence of house-trespass.
The complaint further alleged that social media accounts, including @Pamphlet_in and @JaipurDialogues, published his complete residential address and encouraged members of the public to visit the premises. It also named Abhijit Iyer Mitra, alleging that he repeatedly shared Das's address on social media, and Deepak Sharma of @Pamphlet_in, alleging that he entered the property and recorded videos from inside the residence.
According to the complaint, publication of the videos revealed the exact location, layout and security arrangements of the residence, thereby creating what Das described as a grave and imminent threat to the safety of his family and property. He also alleged that several videos contained false and baseless claims regarding his finances, which he said were intended to damage his reputation and subject him to public hatred, ridicule and contempt.
Das alleged that the incidents formed part of a coordinated campaign across multiple social media platforms aimed at invading his privacy, exposing his residence, damaging his reputation and subjecting him to sustained harassment and intimidation. He requested that an FIR be registered against the named individuals as well as other unidentified persons allegedly involved, and sought immediate police action to prevent any further unlawful acts.
