CJP's Dipke, Das, Ranka released on condition of maintaining peace for a year

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka were released from detention by an Executive Magistrate court in Delhi on Sunday, subject to the condition that they maintain peace for one year.

The three were detained by Delhi Police from inside an Air India aircraft shortly after it landed in Delhi on Saturday. They were travelling to attend a planned protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and were later produced before the Additional City Magistrate court in Delhi Cantonment.

Following their release, the CJP's official X account posted, “Finally, Delhi Police is forced to release Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das. Cockroaches never die.”

YouTuber and influencer Dhruv Rathee, who was detained from his home in Gurugram shortly before the protest, was released around 3 am on Sunday.

Earlier, CJP legal team head Ratna Singh said on X that a Delhi Police official had informed her about the leaders' scheduled appearance before the magistrate. She said she would be present at Delhi Cantt Police Station with other lawyers representing the party.

The detentions were part of preventive action ahead of the planned demonstration against Kumar. The CJP and the All India Students' Association (AISA) had called on supporters to gather at Jantar Mantar over manipulation of voter lists and demand the Chief Election Commissioner's resignation. Police had denied permission for the protest, citing security and law-and-order concerns.

Delhi Police detained more than 3,000 people across the capital on Saturday as part of an extensive security operation. More than 20,000 police and Central Armed Police Forces personnel were deployed, including around 6,500 in the area around Jantar Mantar.

The security measures disrupted public transport, with several Metro stations shut, train services cancelled, and mobile internet suspended within a four-kilometre radius of the Janpath-Kartavya Path area. Metro entry and exit gates were reopened later on Saturday night, with interchange facilities restored at the affected stations.
