Chennai man swallows jewels along with biryani at friend's Eid party

Chennai: The scene was straight from Fahadh Faasil starrer Malayalam movie "Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum".

A 32-year-old man in Chennai swallowed jewels worth Rs. 1.45 lakh—albeit with a difference.

Where Fahadh's character ate up the ornament all by itself, Chennai man downed it with biryani at a friend's Eid party on Tuesday.

Doctors retrieved the ornaments lodged in his stomach administrating enema, according to India Today.

The host of the Eid party was working in a jewellery store here.

The man, who was the boyfriend of the host's friend, was among those showed up at her Eid party on May 3.

After the guests had left, the host discovered that her diamond necklace, a gold chain and a diamond pendant were missing from the cupboard.

After searching high and low, she suspected her friend's boyfriend had made away with the ornaments.

She lodged a complaint with the Virugambakkam police station.

When questioned the following day, he confessed to the crime.

A scanning of his stomach revealed ornaments stuck still inside there.

On Thursday, after administering enema a necklace worth Rs 95,000 and gold worth Rs 25,000 were recovered from him.

In order to take out the pendent still stuck in his stomach, doctors gave him laxatives.

The host withdrew her complaint as she did not want to proceed with filing a case.

Police said he was drunk when he swallowed the jewellery along with the biryani.
