Sangh Parivar leaders call on Twitter to boycott Cadbury's chocolate. The issue centres on a special Diwali advertisement from Cadbury. The hashtag #BoycottCadbury is trending on Twitter.
In Cadbury's most recent advertisement, the poor shopkeeper is called Damodar. It is alleged that the shopkeeper in the ad has been given the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's father.
National President Of Bhagwa Kranti Sena tweeted "Have you carefully observed Cadbury chocolate's advertisement on TV channels? The shopless poor lamp seller is Damodar. This is done to show someone with PM Narendra Modi's father's name in poor light. Chaiwale ka baap diyewala. Shame on Cadbury Company".
Twitter users broke into two groups after that. While some called for the boycott, others came out in favour of the ad. Some commented that 'carefully observed, good ad'.
This is not the first time that Cadbury has been embroiled in controversy in India. Last year, the company was accused of adding beef to its most popular chocolate, Dairy Milk. There were even calls to ban Cadbury chocolates in India. Later, the company explained that all Cadbury's chocolates manufactured and sold in India are vegetarian.
