BSF finds two Chinese drones in Punjab border operations

During search operations in Punjab's Amritsar district, the Border Security Force (BSF) uncovered two Chinese drones, as per reports on Sunday.

The operations led to the discovery of a China-made DJI Matrice 300 RTK drone from the courtyard of an abandoned house in Hardo Ratan village. Another Chinese-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone was found in a harvested field adjacent to Nestha village.

BSF attributed the success of the operation to reliable information and the vigilance of its troopers, preventing potential attempts by drone handlers and drug smugglers from across the border.

Punjab shares a 553-km barbed-wire-fenced border with Pakistan, guarded by the BSF.

"On 05th May 2024, during the morning hours, an Ex-serviceman of BSF residing in a border village of district Gurdaspur informed the BSF intelligence wing about presence of a drone in border area. Based on the information, BSF troops rushed to the spot and carried out an extensive search operation. The search culminated at about 10:10 AM with the recovery of 01 drone in damaged condition from a farming field nearby village Haruwal in district Gurdaspur. The recovered drone has been identified as a China-made DJI Mavic 3 classic. The reliable information of an aware and law abiding Ex-BSF personnel helped the BSF troops thwart an illicit attempt of drone intrusion from across the border," read the X post by BSF.
