Body Parts from crashed Indonesian Plane found at the site

Jakarta: Investigators on Sunday have hauled to shore smithereens and body parts from a crashed Boeing passenger plane that had plunged into waters near Indonesian capital.

The Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-500 took off with 62 passengers on board Saturday afternoon, before going into steep dive four minutes later.

"As of this morning, we've received two (body) bags, one with passenger belongings and the other with body parts," Jakarta police spokesman Yusri Yunus told Metro TV.

It is not yet known what happened to the flight, and authorities are on a frantic search and rescue operation. Reports however indicate no hope for any survivors from the crash.

Following the crash, authorities deployed warships, helicopters and divers to the site Sunday.

Besides the crew, there were sixty-two passengers including 10 children—all Indonesian.

Their distraught relatives spent overnight at the Pontianak airport fretting over the news.

One of the relatives Yaman Zai sobbed out "I have four family members on the flight -- my wife and three children"

The flight was bound for Pontianak city about 90 minutes away on Indonesia's section of Borneo Island.
