BJP MP calls protesting farmers 'Jobless Alcoholics', farmers hit his car

New Delhi: The skirmishes between protesting farmers and police irrupted in Haryana's Hisar district on the arrival of BJP's Rajya Sabha member Ram Chander Jangra to inaugurate an inn at Narnaund city. In the melee, the windshield of the car in which the MP arrived was smashed.

Jangra faced slogans against the controversial farm laws and the BJP government. Despite a huge police deployment at the spot over the anticipation of protest from agitating farmers, the police reportedly could not control the crowd who rushed towards the MP breaking the barricades.

There were also counter slogans from the attendees supporting Jangra.

It is Jangra's remarks calling protesting farmers the "jobless alcoholics" while attending a programme in Rohtak yesterday that provoked the agitating farmers to meet him with protest in Hisar.

"There's no opposition to the farm laws. Those protesting are jobless alcoholics from villages. They are bad elements who keep doing such things. And they killed an innocent man at the Singhu border," he can be heard telling reporters in a video clip that has been circulated by the farmers.

He had also made a speech where he appealed to the people to deal with the farmers strictly, convince them and stop them from protesting.
