Bhopal: Vivek, the son of the BJP MLA, shot Surya Khairbar, a tribal youth, in his right hand. This attack resulted from a verbal confrontation between the two. The police confirmed that the victim's bullet wounds were treated at a hospital on Thursday night.
A BJP leader told IANS sources that the MLA’s son was formerly involved in various illegal coal and wood smuggling cases, accusing Vivek of misappropriating his father’s power.
The BJP leader commented, “The fire incident came to light because there were many people at the spot at that time. Vivek would often create terror among the tribal people and beat them whenever he wished, and no one would stop him. He has a strong nexus that has been involved in illegal coal mining and wood smuggling. Even if he gets arrested, his father would use his power to get him out of jail, and this has been happening for the last several years.”
BJP’s silence on this matter is facing harsh backlash from the public as well as the opposition. MP Congress President, Kamal Nath, accuses the BJP of supporting crimes against the tribal community. “I want to know from the Chief Minister whether the only work left for the BJP leaders is to harass tribals, Dalits, women, and people of all communities. Far from curbing such crimes, you are seeing the promotion of criminals happening. Recently, you have made it clear how fast you are progressing in the campaign of forming a criminal BJP by including the person convicted of running a sex racket from Harda in the BJP,” said the Congress president of MP.
This incident took place a month after the video of another BJP MLA, Kedarnath Shukla’s representative, Pravesh Shukla, urinating on a tribal man, went viral on social media platforms. This incident took place in the Sidhi district, where the district administration attempted to compensate the victim, Dashmat Rawat, by arranging an audience with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
Dashmat Rawat was taken to the CM’s residence in Bhopal, where the Chief Minister washed the victim’s feet, shared a meal, and planted a sapling together.
Under the National Security Act (NSA), Pravesh Shukla faced detention, and his parents' house was vandalized after the video surfaced. Deepnarayan Sahu, the one responsible for filming this video, was also booked under the IT Act.
The public shamed the BJP for its lack of action and hopes that stringent action is taken against Ramlallu Vaish’s son.
