BJP has disposed of old allies after coming to power: Tejashwi Yadav

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has criticised the BJP's silence over the party coup in the LJP led by Pashupati Kumar Paras. He alleged that the BJP has "disposed of" and "abandoned" most of its old allies since coming to power, hinting at Chirag Paswan who was displaced by his paternal uncle Paras.

He further took another jab at BJP by saying that the ruling party "lures" parties and leaders by promising them the moon but once they realise the party is no longer of use, they are dumped like flies are thrown out of milk.

The BJP has "disposed of" and"abandoned" most of its old allies since coming to power. The ruling party is gaining maximum from it, he added. His statement comes right after Paswan going public with his disappointment over BJP's silence about his feud with Pashupati Paras.

Paras had recently led a coup to take the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leadership from Chirag Paswan. A meeting of the LJP national executive last Sunday endorsed Chirag's leadership. Representatives said that the Paras and his faction are working against the party's constitution.

Yadav added that Chirag Paswan can carry his father Ram Vilas Paswan's legacy by joining the "existential fight" against RSS ideologue MS Golwalkar's thoughts.

Yadav said that Ram Vilas Paswan was a socialist who fought caste supremacy, poverty, and inequality. "The real tribute to him would be carrying forward his values and legacy and that is possible only when Chirag joins this existential fight against Golwalkar's bunch of thoughts", added the former Bihar deputy CM.

About the rift between the LJP factions of Chirag Paswan and uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, Yadav supported Chirag and said that those who have engineered this split were vengeful against Chirag Paswan. He was hinting at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as Paswan fought against them in the last assembly elections. He alleged that Nitish Kumar has "spared none and betrayed everyone".

Yadav said that his party has always stood by the founder of LJP Ram Vilas Paswan. And in 2009, when the LJP lost the election, Lalu Prasad Yadav sent him to Rajya Sabha from the Rashtriya Janata Dal quota. He asked if anyone has done or sacrificed so much for any other leader or party in the country.

He also pointed out that his party, RJD, is celebrating Dalit messiah, Ram Vilas Ji's birth anniversary to commemorate his contribution to the state. Chirag Paswan has also announced an "aashirvaad yatra" from July 5 to celebrate the same.

After the party coup, Yadav had urged Chirag Paswan to quit the NDA saying that India is at a "juncture where pro-Constitution, pro-democracy, pro-farmers, and pro-people forces are on one side". He added that those "antithetical to this ideology are on the other side."
