Amid the ongoing water scarcity in Bengaluru, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, has shared a video showcasing an innovative method for harvesting water from air conditioners.
Advocating for water conservation, Mahindra posted the clip on X (formerly Twitter) and urged his followers to disseminate the idea.
The video displays a method for storing AC water, suggesting its reuse for various purposes such as gardening, mopping, flushing, and car washing. It features a thin pipe connected to an AC condenser, leading into a thick cylindrical pipe attached to a tap at the bottom.
In the clip, the narrator emphasizes the importance of water conservation, particularly in Bengaluru where water scarcity is prevalent.
He highlighted the unique approach of collecting AC water efficiently, stating that it can store up to 100 litres in a pipe. The narrator underscores the versatility of AC water, likening it to distilled water and advocating for its careful utilization. Mahindra echoed this sentiment in his tweet, calling for the widespread adoption of such systems across India.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru continues to grapple with an unprecedented water crisis, prompting residents to adopt various strategies to cope with the shortage. Some residents told NDTV that tankers are failing to meet their daily needs.
