Mumbai: An order for Halidram snack cost the 44-year-old civil engineer from Vile Parle – East, Mumbai, Rs 18,666. The man was unaware when he ordered Halidram snack seeing an advertisement on Facebook that he would become a victim of cyber fraud.
In an FIR filed with the Mumbai police, the man said he ordered the snack on January 28. He said he had no knowledge of the work of fraudsters using their numbers as contacts for sweet shops, wine shops, courier services and customer care services.
The FIR said the person did as instructed by the fraudsters. He downloaded an app called SMS forwarder, through which the personal was tricked to reveal his credit card details. By the time he got an alert from the bank and block his card, he lost Rs 18,666 from his credit card.
