Allegedly fed cow chicken momos: Bajrang Dal men beat up influencer

Gurugram: A social media influencer here was attacked and tortured by cow vigilantes, affiliated with right-wing extremist group Bajrang Dal, for allegedly hurting religious sentiments after he made a video in which he fed a cow chicken momos. The vlogger, identified as Ritik Chandna, fed the cow at Gurugram’s Sector 56 HUDA Market, and the video went viral, according to reports.

After the video was viewed by thousands of people, the enraged Bajrang Dal activists attacked Ritik and dragged him along the road. They were shouting while beating him. After the attack, the locals took the vlogger to the Sector 56 police station.

Police, however, arrested the vlogger and registered a case against him under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) (acts intended to hurt religious sentiments) and the Animal Welfare Act.

The police have also started a special investigation against those who attacked Ritik. The digital forensic team is also investigating the conspiracy behind the incident by collecting the live stream and other evidence.

In the video, which was live-streamed online, Ritik was seen buying chicken momos from a shop and eating a few himself before he fed the cow with them.

According to some reports, the vlogger had admitted to the act and claimed that he was paid to do the act. Police said that the influencer claimed that he was offered Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 for making the video by an unknown person.
