AAP to join hands with Twenty-20 in Kerala

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal announced that the party has allied with the Twenty-20 Party in Kerala. The Aam Aadmi Party has been trying to gain a foothold in Kerala.

The Delhi Chief Minister tweeted: "I'm happy to announce an alliance with Kerala's Twenty20 Party". He introduced Kitex Group MD and Twenty20 chief coordinator, Sabu Jacob, to his followers in North India. Kejriwal said Jacob is a "big industrialist" but decided to work in a small panchayat. "He turned the panchayat's ₹ 36 lakh deficit to ₹ 14 crores FD". Kejriwal added that AAP and Twenty20 Party will transform Kerala together.

The Twenty-20 Party is the CSR wing of the Ernakulam-based Anna-Kitex group of companies. The group entered politics seven years ago in Kizhakkambalam panchayat by winning 17 out of 19 wards. In 2015, the party won three neighbouring panchayats and stated the intention to contest the assembly elections in the future.

Talking about AAP's chances in Kerala, the founder said the party contested elections in Delhi without money, people, or candidates. Aam Aadmi Party candidates won against three-time MLAs and four-time MLAs. "We had a housewife in Shalimar Bagh who beat a 4-time MLA". He also spoke of the recent victory in Punjab. A technician who worked at a mobile shop beat the former CM Charanjeet Singh Channi, added Kejriwal.

Kerala has been alternating between LDF and UDF governments for years before breaking the pattern in the last election and choosing the Left-led government for a second term.
