Kolkata: In a shocking incident, the bodies of three female family members, including a teenage girl, were discovered with their wrists slit under mysterious circumstances at their residence in Kolkata’s Tangra area on Wednesday.
Authorities have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination to determine whether the deaths were a result of suicide or homicide. The local police have launched an investigation and questioned neighbors to ascertain if there were any signs of unusual behavior from the deceased in recent days.
The gruesome discovery was made in the morning when police arrived at the residence in connection with an unrelated road accident. The investigation began after the husband of one of the deceased women was involved in an accident near Ruby Crossing on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass earlier that morning. Upon recovering his identity documents, traffic police traced his address to Tangra and visited the home only to uncover the tragic scene inside.
Given the sensitivity of the case, a homicide team from the city police, along with the Joint Commissioner (Crime), arrived at the spot to oversee the probe.
So far, initial inquiries from neighbors have not indicated any prior unusual activity or distress among the deceased. As the investigation continues, officials are awaiting further details, including autopsy results, to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
