Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a charge sheet against Sanjay Roy in the controversial RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case, NDTV reported.
The Central agency charged Roy, who was working as a civic volunteer with the local police at the time, with the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the hospital on August 9.
The CBI completed the probe within two months and named Roy in the charge sheet as the main accused after recording statements of about 200 people.
The central agency will submit the charge sheet before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's court at Sealdah today.
However, it is reported that the CBI is still probing if it was a gang rape.
After the trainee doctor was found dead at the hospital, Kolkata police arrested Roy a day later.
In the midst of nationwide protest, the court directed the CBI to take over the case.
Following which, Kolkata Police handed him over to the CBI.
