Srinagar: A civilian was killed on Sunday in a firing incident near a CRPF camp in J&K's Shopian district. Police said the civilian, identified as Shahid Aijaz belonging to Anantnag, was killed in a cross-firing incident in Babapora village of Shopian district.

"A CRPF party was out for area domination when militants fired at them in Babapora village after which the CRPF troops retaliated.

"The civilian was killed in the crossfire between the militants and the security forces", police said

Earlier, two policemen and a soldier in the Indian Army were injured after a clash with terrorists in the forested area near Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir this morning. Anti-terrorist operations entered the 14th day as police and military closed in in the remaining LeT militants holed up in forests in the Bhata-Durian area.

Terrorists opened fire on a search party in the forest which led to the injuries, reports say. The Army also said that Zia Mustafa, a terrorist from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir currently remanded in police custody, was also injured in the firing. The injured terrorist could not be evacuated due to heavy firing.

On Friday, the police took Zia on 10 days remand. He was taken to Mendhar in Poonch apparently to identify the route terrorists involved in Poonch encounter may have used.

At least 9 soldiers have died in the extended operation which began in October 11 after terrorists ambushed and killed 5 soldiers in Poonch and then another 4 on October 14 in Mendhar's Nar Khas forest. The Indian army suspects Pakistani commando involvement in the training of the LeT militants.
