Doha: Around 1,600 Indian nationals travelled to India on five Qatar Airways flights on Tuesday, even as the airline continues to operate limited services due to ongoing restrictions on Qatar’s airspace, the Indian Embassy said.
The flights included two services to Delhi and one each to Mumbai, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, according to a social media update by the mission. “In total, about 1,600 Indian nationals travelled on Qatar Airways flights today,” it said.
The embassy noted that Qatar’s airspace remains largely closed, with the airline currently operating only limited, non-scheduled flights. However, Qatar Airways has announced services to nine Indian destinations starting Wednesday, with bookings available through its website, mobile application and authorised travel agents.
The mission added that it is facilitating temporary Saudi transit visas for stranded Indian nationals who wish to return home via Saudi Arabia by crossing the Salwa land border.
It also said the embassy will remain open throughout the coming week to provide consular services, including passport issuance, while its control room and helplines via phone, email and WhatsApp will continue to operate round the clock.
Urging the Indian community to follow instructions issued by Qatari authorities, the embassy called for responsible sharing of information to help maintain public safety and community stability.
In addition, the embassy and Indian community organisations are supporting members of the Indian fishermen community in Qatar by distributing dry rations to those in need.
Tensions in West Asia have been escalating following US-Israel strikes on Iran since February 28.
