Zoya Akhtar and Aamir Khan discuss potential collaboration for new film

Mumbai: Renowned actor Aamir Khan and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, known for her films like "Gully Boy" and "Dil Dhadakne Do," have recently met to discuss a potential collaboration on a new project.

Over the years, Aamir has often praised Zoya's work and expressed a desire to work together. Their previous collaboration includes Aamir providing a voice-over for Zoya's film "Dil Dhadakne Do."

Sources close to the development have revealed that Zoya Akhtar is working on an idea for a slice-of-life film centered around a middle-aged protagonist. This film, typical of Zoya's style, promises to be a mix of light-heartedness with drama and emotional depth. While the initial story concept is ready, it's yet to be transformed into a screenplay format, reported Pinkvilla.

Aamir Khan has shown interest in the project, particularly because the character aligns with his age. However, being known for his meticulous approach, Aamir has requested Zoya to further develop the story and return for a detailed narration. He has also encouraged Zoya to seek his or his team's input during the writing process.

While the project is still in its early stages, if finalized, the film will be a collaboration between Tiger Baby Productions and Aamir Khan Productions. Meanwhile, Aamir is occupied with the shooting of RS Prassana's "Sitare Zameen Par," scheduled for release during Christmas 2024.

Apart from Zoya's project, Aamir is also considering an out-and-out comedy with Rajkumar Santoshi and the Ujjwal Nikam Biopic. Discussions for other potential projects are ongoing, and Aamir plans to review the updated drafts once he completes "Sitare Zameen Par."
