Vidya Balan, who is set to reprise her role as Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 alongside Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri, recently shared her excitement about returning to the comedy genre.
In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, she also discussed her upcoming film Do Aur Do Pyaar, a romantic comedy co-starring Pratik Gandhi.
Balan expressed her enthusiasm for comedy, stating, "As an actor, I think I've not had the opportunity to do comedy, and I am yearning to do a comedy." She emphasized her fondness for the genre, both as an actor and as an audience member. "I think now more than ever. I've enjoyed all the films I've done, but now I feel ke yaar hasna hasana hai, thode dinon ke liye thode time ke liye thode saalon ke liye," she elaborated.
Regarding her return to the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, Balan said, "It's great." Her co-star Pratik Gandhi, who was also present during the conversation, enthusiastically added, "Manjulika is back." Balan expressed her desire to participate in a comedy filled with 'paagalpanti' (madness).
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 follows the success of its two predecessors and has garnered significant anticipation. The film, directed by Anees Bazmee, is expected to release later this year.
Meanwhile, Balan is busy promoting Do Aur Do Pyaar, directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta. The film, centered around married couples, also features Ileana D'Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy. Produced by Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal, Tanuj Garg, Atul Kasbekar, and Swati Iyer Chawla, Do Aur Do Pyaar is set to hit theatres on April 19, 2024.
The film was initially scheduled for release on March 29 but was later postponed.
