Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik and starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has achieved remarkable success at the box office, spending over a month in theaters with no signs of slowing down.
The film has shattered records, emerging as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever and has now officially become the most profitable project in Bollywood history.
Made on a budget of approximately Rs 60 crore, Stree 2 has grossed an impressive Rs 577 crore in India, translating to a staggering return on investment (ROI) of around Rs 510 crore. This means the film has generated about nine times its production budget in ticket sales alone.
The film's financial success surpasses that of other notable projects, including Munjya, also produced by Maddock Films, which earned Rs 108 crore against a budget of Rs 30 crore.
It also outperformed Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, which had a budget of Rs 100 crore and garnered Rs 556.36 crore in total revenue.
On Monday, Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced that Stree 2 has crossed the Rs 600 crore milestone in India, making it the first Hindi film to achieve this feat.
In a post on X, he celebrated the film's historic accomplishment, stating, “IT'S 600 PAAR... Stree 2 creates HISTORY as the first Hindi film to achieve this milestone. From metros to non-metros, multiplexes to single screens, and urban centres to mass markets, Stree 2 is an OUTRIGHT WINNER across the board.”
He also noted the film's ongoing success, highlighting its consistent strong performance week after week.
Adarsh shared the latest box office figures, which show Stree 2 has maintained robust earnings throughout its run:
- Week 1: Rs 307.80 crore (including Wednesday previews and full release on Thursday)
- Week 2: Rs 145.80 crore
- Week 3: Rs 72.83 crore
- Week 4: Rs 37.75 crore
- Week 5: Rs 25.72 crore
- Weekend 6: Rs 14.32 crore
Featuring a talented cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, Stree 2 was released on August 15 and has set a new benchmark for future films in the industry.
