Mumbai: Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan reunited on screen after a long time for Pathaan. It also marked the first crossover in the YRF spy universe.
Salman Khan already has two films in the spy universe Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). Tiger 3 is scheduled to hit the screens in 2023. The action sequence starring both Khans was lauded by many as it showcased their chemistry and reminded people of the Karan Arjun days.
Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan recently opened up about their experience of working together again.
Salman Khan said a special film was needed for him and SRK to come together on the big screen. He added that he is glad that Pathaan is that film. "When we did Karan Arjun, it was a blockbuster. And now, Pathaan, which is part of YRF's Spy Universe, has also turned out to be a blockbuster. I'm aware that audiences love to see us together on screen. I'm happy that they have given us so much love in 'Pathaan'. I was floored when Adi narrated the sequence to me and told me about his vision to bring us together on screen again."
SRK said he and Salman have always wanted to act together but were waiting for the right film and the right script. "We both knew that there would be incredible excitement to see us on screen but we would have to deliver that promise to audiences because they love us so much. If not, they would be mighty dejected and it wouldn't work for the project."
Pathaan is having a good run at the box office and has grossed Rs 832.2 crore worldwide in only 12 days. In India, the total box office collection is Rs 515 crore.
