Shoranur: Malayalam actress Meena Ganesh passed away early morning on Thursday at 81. The renowned actor, who was admitted to a private hospital here in Kerala after suffering a stroke days ago, was under medical treatment and died around 1:20 am.
Her funeral is scheduled for 4:00 pm in the evening at Santhitheeram in Shoranur.
Meena, a film and television actor, was married to the late actor AN Ganesh. She acted in over 200 movies and 25 television serials. Starting at the age of 19 as an actor on stage, she has several stage plays to her credit. She acted in theatre companies like SL Puram Surya Soma, Kayamkulam Kerala Theatres, and Thrissur Chinmayi.
She debuted on the silver screen through director PA Bakkar's Manimuzhakkam, released in 1976. Some of her known film roles were in Kalabhavan Mani-starrer Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njanum, Karumadikuttan, Nandanam, Valam, Venkalam, Thalayana Manthram, Nakhkshathangal, Ee Puzhayum Kadann, etc. She was last seen in Pathirakkattu in 2016 in a movie role.
She is survived by her son, Manoj Ganesh, and daughter, Sangeetha.
