London: Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan is all set to hit theatres tomorrow and has already received the biggest pre-booking by a Bollywood film. Now, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has given it a 12A rating for "moderate violence, threat, injury detail, sex references."
The organisation’s website gives details about the rating. It said there was an uncut 15 rating available but the distributor chose to cut scenes of strong violence to receive their preferred 12A classification. The website mentions that Pathaan has "occasional sight of bloody facial injuries" and a gunshot wound. The film also has "moderate sex reference". Under violence, it says the film shows "shootings, stabbings, explosions, and hand-to-hand fighting."
Pathaan is anticipated to be one of India's biggest action films and it is being released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. It is the fourth film in Aditya Chopra's ambitious spy universe. Starring Deepika Padukone also in the lead role, fans will get to see John Abraham playing the villain and Salman Khan appearing in an extended cameo.
Pathaan will be released in over 100 countries on January 25th. Analyst Taran Adarsh projected that over four lakh tickets will be sold at the time the film opens. As of Monday evening, SRK's comeback has sold 3.9 lakh tickets for its opening day.
