Mumbai: The Andheri sessions court has dismissed a plea filed by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, challenging the proceedings initiated against her regarding the defamation case filed by veteran Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar.
Akhtar had filed a case against the actress last year for allegedly insulting and defamatory remarks made against him on a television show. It is alleged that the actress referred to Akhtar as being part of a "coterie" of Bollywood higher-ups who had a part to play in the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and that he had "threatened" her not to speak about her relationship with Hrithik Roshan.
Kangana Ranaut had submitted an application requesting that the summons from the magistrate's court be quashed. A bailable warrant was earlier issued for her after repeatedly refusing to answer the summons to the court.
