Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway collects Rs 1.70 cr internationally, bigger box office collection than in India

Rani Mukerji's Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway had a bigger than India opening internationally. In India, the film collected around Rs 1.20 crore on day one. On the second day, the film collected Rs 1.50 crore. However, on the opening day, the film collected around 1.70 crores.

In Norway, the film was in second spot only behind Shazam! Fury of the Gods. On the opening day, the film made USD 30,000 and is expected to collect over USD 75 on the weekend. The North American market also responded well with USD 60,000 on the opening day. The opening weekend collection is likely to be over USD 250,000. Other international markets are also seeing a surprisingly warm response to a movie that is not hardcore entertainment.

Earlier, the veteran actress told Pinkvilla that she also feels the pressure of how well the film is likely to fare at the box office. She said: "Absolutely. If I don't feel pressure, I should pack my bags and sit at home because the most important thing for an actor is to be seen by the maximum number of people in the audience. And what the maximum number of people in the audience states is box office success. The more the box office means the more people have gone to watch a film. So that matters the most to an actor."

"If an actor feels that it should not make a difference to them, then I think that they shouldn't be actors any longer because actors are not here to receive praise from just a handful of people. They want an audience to watch a film. That is what we live for. That is what we strive for. That is what we work hard for. If I do this film, I do this because I want the message to go to as many people as it can. I want my performance to be viewed by millions of people so that they understand what I went through while making the film and what I brought to them. So ya, it is very important," she added.

The social drama is about an Indian woman living in Norway with her husband. She is forced to fight the system when child services take her children away, branding her unfit to be a mother. The film is based on a true story.
