Samrat Prithviraj screened for Yogi and team, as Akhilesh Yadav takes a dig

New Delhi: UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday sat with the actor Akshay Kumar, flanked in others seats by his cabinet members, watching the special screening of the period drama "Samrat Prithviraj" , NDTV reported.

Yogi Adityanath was quick to declare the movie tax-free in the state. The movie was screened at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow with Akshay Kumar, female lead Manushi Chillar and director Chandra Prakash Dwivedi in attendance.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav wouldn't wait to take a dig at Yogi Adityanath, saying it would have been better if the film was seen with a ticket also from back row of seats.

Yogi and his cabinet remembers as seen in a photo appear to be seated in the front row.

Yadav also added in the tweet that watching the movie with a ticket would not harm the revenue of the state.

In another tweet, Akhilesh Yadav said after watching the movie, the cabinet see the present condition of Uttar Pradesh.

The 'dough of the past' cannot make rotis in the present, he said, adding that BJP cabinet was enjoying a historic film in a modern auditorium built by the Samajwadi Party government.

Samrat Prithviraj, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is based on the life of Rajput king Prithviraj Chauhan. The movie, featuring Akshay Kumar alongside Manushi Chhillar in lead roles, is set to release worldwide on June 3.
