The Film Federation of India (FFI) has chosen the Gujarati film 'Chhello Show' over the fascinating 'RRR' by SS Rajamouli as India's official entry to Oscar letting down movie buffs and political analysts across the divide.
Reactions to the decision is pouring in with many openly expressing their displeasure, according to The News Minute.
One of the important voices to register protest today was of KTR who said that none of the state BJP leaders has guts to demand what rightfully "ours" is—meaning supporting RRR.
KTR, who is also the son of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, added that the state BJP leaders cannot summon courage to demand for Telangana's rights.
Political analyst K Nageshwar also reacted to the decision by The Film Federation of India (FFI) saying that RRR lost to Gujarati film Chhello Show in the race for Oscar.
He was quoted as tweeting that Kazipet denied coach factory, while Gujarat got a locomotive factory and Hyderabad lost WHO centre to Jamnagar in Gujarat.
Alongside these criticisms, film trade analysts have come down heavily against the choice of Chhello Show over RRR—most notably the trade analyist Sumit Kadel terming RRR as India's best bet in the last two decades to win an Oscar.
Gujarati movie Chhello Show, which is about a boy's passion for cinema, was the opening film at the Tribeca Film Festival in June last year.
Telugu action drama RRR unfolds against the backdrop of the pre-independence era in India in the 1920s, starring Junior NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles.
