Katrina Kaif questions pressure on women to bounce back after childbirth
Actor Katrina Kaif has pushed back against expectations that women should quickly regain their pre-pregnancy bodies, asking, “Bounce back? From where?”
In an interview with Vogue, she spoke about postpartum body-shaming, motherhood, and her plans to return to films.
Katrina, who welcomed her son Vihaan with husband Vicky Kaushal on November 7, 2025, faced online criticism over her appearance after attending the Ambanis’ Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in September.
“We live in a world that wants to blow us around in the ever-changing winds of opinions,” she said, adding that people are aware of the physical changes women undergo after childbirth.
The actor said she would not rush her fitness journey to meet public expectations. “I am very aware of my fitness journey and where my body feels at its most energetic. I will reach there at my own pace,” she said.
Reflecting on motherhood, Katrina described the experience of seeing her son for the first time as deeply emotional.
“The first few days after I gave birth, it was an indescribable feeling to see Vihaan’s face and know that four years of a journey for me and Vicky had led to this,” she said.
Katrina also praised Vicky as a husband and father, highlighting his family values and integrity.
“Vicky is an incredible husband. He is wise beyond his years, has strong family values and a true sense of integrity. I would say Vicky is wise in practice, and I am wise in theory,” she said.
The actor remains involved with her beauty brand, Kay Beauty, and has no immediate plans to return to films. She is currently prioritising time with her family, staying away from social media and being present for her son's bedtime.
When she eventually returns to acting, Katrina hopes to explore a different side of her craft. She has a particular role in mind: a villain.
