In a behind-the-scenes video released by the makers of the sci-fi blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD, director of photography Djordje Stojiljkovic shared insights into the film’s production and praised the star-studded cast, which includes Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone.
Stojiljkovic spoke highly of Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Ashwatthama in the film.
He was particularly impressed by Bachchan’s commitment to his craft, noting that the legendary actor often stayed on set to assist with lighting preparations without needing a double. “Amitabh Bachchan sir as Ashwatthama was extraordinary! I especially enjoyed atmospheric shots in the cave. Bachchan sir would often stay on set helping me prepare light for the next shot without even asking for a double, many times!” Stojiljkovic said.
He also commended Kamal Haasan, whom he met towards the end of the shoot, for his impressive presence.
The DOP highlighted Prabhas’s energetic and light-hearted demeanor, which brought a positive atmosphere to the set. He praised Prabhas for his accurate portrayal and dynamic postures, making each shot memorable. “Prabhas brought a wonderful energy on set, always joking and keeping things light. His portrayal was accurate, and his dynamic postures made every shot memorable. I cannot imagine anyone else portraying the part the way he did.”
Stojiljkovic reserved special praise for Deepika Padukone, explaining why she is often referred to as a “queen.”
He lauded her appreciation for his work, particularly the profile shots, and valued her support and encouragement. “Deepika, now I understand why they call her a queen. She genuinely appreciated the shots I provided, especially the profile shots. Her support and encouragement was priceless and it really was motivating me to get better results every time,” he added.
