On the second day of its release, Dharma Production's JugJugg Jeeyo has shown a 40% increase in box office collection. On Friday, the film had opened to a fair collection of Rs 9.28 crore.
On Saturday, the film collected Rs 12.55 crore. It had also received a considerably good pre-release booking. Trade analysts think the film can go on to make a bigger collection on Sunday.
Expert Girish Johar had predicted that the urban drama's typical glossy nature of a Dharma Production film will work in the favour of the movie. He said it will get a good start in top cities including Delhi, Punjab, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Mysore.
JugJugg Jeeyo follows a typical Punjabi family played by Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Maniesh Paul, and Prajakta Koli. The family entertainer is colourful and has a vibrant mood with peppy dance numbers.
Dhawan and Advani play Kukoo Saini and Naina Sharma who are school sweethearts turning into loveless partners after marriage. Advani plays a sorted HR professional in Toronto and Dhawan plays a nightclub bouncer who is not doing great things in his career.
Light stories of lovers turning indifferent and considering divorce are one of the less-told stories, but much-welcome plots Bollywood is getting used to. However, many termed the Raj Mehta directorial a marital comedy with not much insight. The movie is meant to kickstart a laugh riot which is possibly helping the box office collections.
