Kochi: The Kerala High Court has ruled in favour of Prithviraj-Shaji Kailas movie 'Kaduva' , following the plagiarism case filed by 'Kaduva' scriptwriter Jinu Abraham against the makers of the Suresh Gopi starrer 'SG250' for directly copying certain scenes and characters from 'Kaduva'.
The court has banned the makers of 'SG250' from using the same character or plot as the movie and ordered a stay in all shooting for the movie unless changes are made to the script.
Jinu Abraham alleged in his complaint that the 'SG250' movie used the same central character - Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan - as well as several scenes in the motion poster which looked very similar to scenes in 'Kaduva'. In August, an Ernakulam district court had issued a stay against shooting of 'SG250'.
He also said that the director, Mathews Thomas Plammoottil, worked with him for a period as assistant director during which he had discussed the idea for 'Kaduva' with him.
Earlier the producer of 'SG250', Thomichan Mulakupadam had criticised the 'Kaduva' team for having created unnecessary drama.
'Kaduva' is set to go on floors by the end of 2020.
