FIR filed against Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone over Hyundai car

Bharatpur: An FIR has been filed against actors Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and others at Bharatpur’s Mathura Gate police station in Rajasthan following a complaint regarding a faulty Hyundai car.

The complaint was lodged by advocate Kirti Singh, 50, who purchased a 2022 Hyundai Alcazar for Rs 23,97,353 from a dealership in Sonipat, Haryana. Singh alleged that the car has been developing technical faults since the time of purchase. The FIR names Khan and Padukone as they were “brand ambassadors” for the car and has been registered under sections for cheating, criminal breach of trust, and criminal conspiracy.

Singh stated that the dealership assured him the car would function without issues and that they would be responsible if problems arose. “However, after a while, the car started vibrating when accelerating or overtaking, while the speed remained stagnant and the engine management system showed a malfunction, putting the lives of my family and me in danger multiple times,” he said, citing the FIR.

When approached, the dealership described the issue as a manufacturing defect by Hyundai, which could not be permanently rectified. They suggested temporary measures, but the problem persisted increasingly over time. Singh alleged that the defect posed a risk to his life and imposed an additional financial burden.

He added that despite informing the dealership and requesting a resolution or replacement, his concerns were ignored. Singh accused the company of concealing the defect knowingly, claiming the experience has caused him heavy financial, physical, and mental stress while he continues to pay the car loan.
