Center summons Amazon Prime officials in 'Tandav' controversy

New Delhi: Amazon Prime Video officials have been summoned by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry in connection to the recent controversy over the Amazon Original show 'Tandav' that politicians and public alike have branded as 'anti-Hindu'.

The move came after BJP leader Ram Kadar filed a case against eh directors of the show and its actors. Kadar claimed that shows hurting Hindu sentiments were popping up continuously and that actors Said Ali Khan and Dimple Kapadia had insulted Hindu faith and sentiments. The same sentiment has been echoed by numerous BJP leaders.

BJP leader Manoj Kotak had already sent a letter to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar requesting censorship of OTT platforms on the basis of their focus on sexual, lewd, religious and violent themes. Social media users have also joined the campaign.

Twitter users have called for a boycott of 'Tandav' director Ali Abbas Zafar. Meanwhile, actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub has also been asked to apologise for a scene in which he is wearing a costume reminiscent of Shiva and using a Trishul.
