Mumbai: A hashtag, "#BoycottLaalSinghChaddha", has been trending on Twitter days before Bollywood actor Aamir Khan starrer 'Laal Singh Chaddha' is set to release.
Responding to it, the actor called the boycott call on Twitter unfortunate and requested fans to give his film a fair chance. He also linked the boycott call to some people's wrong thinking. He said some people believe that he did not like India and their belief is untrue.
The boycott trend is said to be related to his 2015 comments where he said that the growing intolerance had led his ex-filmmaker wife Kiran Rao to suggest leaving the country. The video of the 2015 interview bits has also been trending along with the boycott call.
Laal Singh Chaddha is a Hindi remake of Robert Zemeckis' classic Forrest Gump, which featured Tom Hanks in the lead role. The Hindi version has been directed by Advait Chandan. Laal Singh Chaddha is collaboratively being produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
In Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan will be seen sharing screen space with his 3 Idiots co-stars Kareena Kapoor and Mona Singh. It also marks the Bollywood debut of Naga Chaitanya.
