Award-winning Malayalam Movie, Biryani directed by Sajin Babu, will hit theatres on the 26th of this month. Kani Kusruthi, who played the lead role in the film, won the State Award for Best Actress. Kani portrays a woman who fights against religious evils.
Since 2020, Biryani was screened in more than 50 film festivals and has won over 20 awards. Biryani won Best Actress and Best Film awards at the 6th Kaleidoscope India Film Festival in Boston.
Kani Kusruti was nominated for Best Actress in the BRICS competition at the 42nd Moscow Film Festival. Kani also won the Second Best Actress Award at the Imagine International Film Festival in Spain.
"The response to the film from the audience at the recent IFFK was very inspiring,Shows presented at the fair was Housefull," says Sajin Babu. Babu hopes that 'Biryani' will be similarly received in theatres.
'Biryani' was first screened at the Asiatica Film Festival in Rome and won the Netpak Award for Best Picture.
The story and screenplay were written by Sajin Babu himself. Produced by U.A.N Film House, the film's cinematography was done by Karthik Muthukumar while music and editing was done by Leo Tom and Appu N Bhattathiri respectively.
Anil Nedumangad, the actor who died recently has played an important role in this movie.
