Yash Raj Films has announced its latest addition to the Spy Universe, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in a new film titled Alpha.
This marks the seventh installment in YRF's expanding spy franchise.
Alia Bhatt shared the exciting news on Instagram with a teaser video, where her voiceover introduces the film's title and its bold motto: "Greek alphabet ka sabse pehla akshar. Aur humare programme ka motto.. sabse pehle, sabse tezz, sabs veer. Dhyaan se dekho toh har sheher mein ek jungle hai. Aur jungle mein hamesha Raj karega..ALPHA!"
The video concludes with the message "filming now." Her post's caption read, "It's the time of the ALPHA... Girls!" and she tagged her co-star Sharvari.
The announcement drew enthusiastic responses from the film community. Alia’s sister, Shaheen Bhatt, commented with "LET'S GO," while filmmaker Tahira Kashyap, actress Pashmina Roshan, Navya Naveli Nanda, and Anil Kapoor reacted with various supportive emojis.
Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail, continues YRF’s successful spy saga that began with the Tiger franchise, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The series started with Ek Tha Tiger, followed by Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. Upcoming films in the franchise include War 2 directed by Ayan Mukerji, Pathaan 2, and Tiger vs Pathaan.
Speculation about Alia Bhatt joining the Spy Universe was confirmed in March when YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani made the announcement at FICCI Frames. He said, "I'll share the worst kept secret in the industry, which is that Alia Bhatt is headlining a Spy Universe film and that the schedule starts later this year."
He emphasized the significance of the Spy Universe, calling it a financial and cultural powerhouse for the studio.
According to a report by Deadline, Bobby Deol will also join Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in Alpha.
