Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was narrowly saved on Saturday after an angry bull entered her roadshow from Howrah Kajipara to Sammilani park, held in support of Trinamool candidates of Howrah North, Howrah Central and Shibpur assembly constituencies.
Though the CM usually walks in her roadshows, she is now limited to her wheelchair following the Nandigram accident. The bull entered the rally when it was 200 metres away from the finish, posing a threat to the CM.
"The bull was just outside the 100-metre security ring, and the bull was trying to push into the security cordon guarded by the Chief Minister's personal security guards. As they tried to chase the bull out of the security ring, ensuring the safety of the chief minister first, the angry bull started chasing people, and this disturbed the discipline of the entire rally," a senior security officer said.
The bull, seemingly trying to cross the road but confused at the presence of a crowd, was then chased away by the Trinamool leaders. This is the second security concern faced by the CM after the Nandigram accident where she pushed by 4-5 men resulting in an injury.
