Fake news on Twitter on Yogi's visit; 6-year-old image from Gujarat claimed to be from Kerala

Ahead of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's visit to Kerala, the hashtag #KeralaWelcomesYogiJi erupted on Twitter, propagated by the Sangh Parivar. Yogi had arrived in Kasargod district to inaugurate the "Vijayayathra" or Victory march led by BJP State Chief K Surendran.

Additionally, images from an old BJP ceremony were widely circulated by many Twitter handles, claiming it to be from Kerala. Perhaps knowing the truth, the BJP activists from Kerala have not tweeted/ retweeted the imThe image shows hundreds of BJP supporters assembling to form the lotus symbol. It was also circulated that Yogi had conquered Kerala.

However, the image was captured six years ago, on the party's foundation day from Dahod in Gujarat. The Prime Minister himself had tweeted the picture in 2015. Once the truth was exposed on Twitter, several who tweeted the image took it down.
