Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samiti president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) attacked BJP on Thursday, saying that fueling religious and caste fanaticism and divisiveness in society would take the nation to 'Taliban-like' undesirable situations, PTI reported.
KCR, addressing a public meeting after he inaugurated the integrated district Collectorate at Mahabubabad, said that peace, tolerance, and wishing for the welfare of all are important if society is to make great progress.
"If religious and caste fanaticism is promoted, people are divided, such are the policies followed, it will become like hell. It will become like a Taliban-like affair, like Afghanistan, and lead to a terrible situation. Due to this hatred, circumstances in which the country's lifeline itself would get burnt would arise. So, especially, youth should be alert," KCR said.
The government in the Centre must be impartial and progressive-minded for the country to achieve progress, he said and added that he favoured Telangana showing the way forward to the entire country in future politics.
He further claimed that after the Centre failed to cooperate with the state government, the Gross Domestic Product (GSDP) of Telangana did not improve as it should have.
In 2014 when the state was formed, the GSDP of Telangana was ₹ 5 lakh crore, and it reached ₹ 11.50 lakh crore now, he said. According to him, Telangana's GSDP must have reached ₹ 14.50 lakh crore.
He said, "Due to the Centre's inefficient policies, Telangana alone lost ₹ 3 lakh crore." The said figures were provided by economists, RBI and CAG, he added.
