Ruby Vesture CEO Aysha Ruby calls designers to adopt sustainable fashion

Palakkad: Chief Executive Officer of Ruby Vesture Exports and the first Indian senator of Germany’s BWA (Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade), Aysha Ruby, called on young designers to adopt environmentally responsible practices in the textile sector during a workshop held in Cherpulassery on Wednesday, reports The Hindu.

Addressing students at Ideal Arts and Science College, Ruby emphasised that fashion extends beyond aesthetics and carries significant social and environmental obligations. She highlighted the rising international demand for sustainable and ethically manufactured fashion products and urged future designers to focus on eco-friendly production methods and the reuse of materials.

The workshop was organised by the college’s Women Development Cell in collaboration with the Department of Business and Management Studies.

College Principal Sainul Abideen Puthanazhi presided over the event. During the programme, the institution honoured Ruby with the Naari Udayamita Samman in recognition of her contributions to entrepreneurship and sustainable business practices. Dr Puthanazhi noted that her professional journey demonstrated how commercial success could be achieved alongside social responsibility.

Faculty member Mohammed Unais P. delivered the keynote address. Students Sneha S., Santhini CN, Sreenithya C, and Lijitha OK also addressed the gathering.
