Cancellation of tickets during Lockdown; Indigo pays 1,030 crores as refunds

New Delhi: Indigo Airline informed that it paid 1,030 crores as refunds following mass disruption of services during the lockdown. The airline, one of the largest in the country, affirmed that they have refunded 99.5% of passengers so far and has assured of paying back the remaining few soon. All the passengers unable to travel during the lockdown have been refunded fully as per the Supreme Court's orders, authorities added.

During the lockdown, the suspension of airline services led to a crash in ticket revenue, delaying the refund process. Yet, the resumption of the airline's service from May helped the company to successfully refund their passengers who had to cancel their flights during the lockdown, said Ronojoy Datta, CEO of Indigo.
